Dear Reader,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to join me, Oxford Club Chief Investment Strategist and best-selling author Alexander Green and top-notch global art and real asset experts in New York City on October 24-25, 2016.
This VIP excursion will be a timely “insider’s seminar and tour” of the best diversification strategies using fine art and rare tangible assets for your money this year.
Thanks to our exclusive connection with esteemed art and collectibles experts from New York, Washington, D.C. and London, 20 Members and their guests – will enjoy the rare opportunity to meet, drink and dine with leading experts on art investing from around the world. This is an exclusive event where you can discover the best strategies this year for profiting from rare precious metals, fine art, antiques, stamps and other real assets you may have never considered, but are proven to beat the stock market over time.
The timing could never be better to learn about this highly enjoyable (and often overlooked) diversification strategy. With stagnant global market and economic growth, many of us are asking...
“What is the strongest place to diversify right now, outside of stocks, bonds and Treasurys, for better returns over the next five to 10 years?”
“Are there safe investments outside of the market that are proven to earn double-digit returns – and more – over the long term?”
The answer is a resounding “Yes”!
According to
Raconteur, in the 10-year period between January 2005 and January 2015...
Fine art grew 252% and offered annual growth of 15%.
Rare stamps grew 255% and offered average annual growth of 10% for the past 40 years.
Coins grew 248% and offered average annual growth of 11% for the past 40 years.
What you may not realize is that it's getting much easier to be a more passive investor in these asset classes. These markets are getting more developed, more transparent and more liquid. There are new online tools, rating services and apps that will soon change the way that investors buy art. There are new indexes being created all the time to track different sectors.
And after years of the auction houses having record sales, there is a contraction in the market. In May, Bloomberg stated that auction houses expect to sell 50% less this year than last year. Global art sales fell 7% last year to $63.8 billion, according to the European Fine Art Foundation. For reasons why, you can look to the normal culprits of the global recession like falling demand from China, dropping oil prices and global equities.
This contraction means it is moving from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market, and that is good news for new investors.
There are plenty of outstanding benefits to investing in rare tangible assets that go beyond the norm. These assets often exist outside of your typical account balance, financial statement or exchange market. They have physical form and natural value.
And what’s even better is that
anyone can use real assets such as art, stamps, gold, silver, antiques and more to diversify their portfolio –
and make money.
In fact, our experts argue that with today’s turbulent global financial markets – and the world banks ushering in a new era of uncertainty on interest rates and currencies – we will continue to see these real assets experience a dynamic and
strategic resurgence.
Here are just a few examples of how profitable investments in fine art and collectibles can be...
- A half century ago, an investor purchased a 1760 New York Chippendale armchair for $750. According to Forbes, in 2015 that chair was valued at $250,000 to $350,000.
- In 2000, an Andy Warhol Marilyn print sold for just $23,621. Five years later in 2005, it sold for $59,854. And in 2013 it jumped to $181,141 – a return of 670% over 13 years.
How to Buy Investment-Worthy Art
(That You Can Actually Use)
One of our featured speakers is a personal investor in a utilitarian asset, in which collectors have seen
triple-digit returns in the last five years while enjoying their purchases at the same time.
When you incorporate real assets like these into your portfolio, you not only give yourself the chance to earn good returns... but you also get to enjoy your investments like no other.
And that’s not all.
Investments in fine art and collectibles can also help you...
- Limit your tax liability – Fine art and collectibles present unique opportunities for an investor to reduce current income tax and eliminate capital gains and estate taxation on art assets.
- Create a legacy to pass on to your heirs – You can easily pass these assets on to your heirs or allow your rare pieces to increase in value over time in a trust fund, a children’s account or as part of your personal portfolio.
- Protect yourself against the uncertainty of the markets – Real assets like fine art and collectibles traditionally maintain their value even as prices rise and the purchasing power of the dollar falls.
Now as I mentioned earlier,
anyone can invest in fine art and collectibles.
It isn’t just for the “one-percenters.” You don’t need millions of dollars to get started. And you certainly don’t have to be in the market for a Picasso or Rembrandt.
For instance, for low minimums you can participate in a managed account where the sector has averaged 9.4% per annum since 1954... and risen 11.4% per annum over the last decade. There’s another sector you can get in on, through a managed account, where the index is up 166% during the past 10 years.
On a personal level, the rare gold coin I bought back in 2005 for $225, the exquisite Mexican 20 peso (prized for its extremely detailed Aztec Calendar design), is about $625 today.
As Rupert Robinson, former CEO of London-based Schroders private bank, says, “
Not only are tangible investments an inflation hedge, but they can also diversify exposure away from the movements in traditional fixed income and equities.”
When you join us for
The Oxford Club’s Investing in Art & Rare Tangible Assets Seminar this October 24-25, our vetted team of world-renowned experts will show you just how easy – and profitable – this type of investing can be.
Not only will we connect you with the best people in the business, we will also give you a behind-the-scenes VIP “insider’s tour” of this exciting new class of investing.
You never know, the purchase you make this year could turn into a goldmine for you or your heirs...
- Andy Warhol’s Orange Marilyn silkscreens, which sold for $2,400 new in the 1960s, have more recently fetched as much as $17 million.
- Malcolm Forbes’ first Fabergé egg was purchased for $57,000. Now his entire collection of nine eggs and other Fabergé material just sold for an estimated $100 million.
- The ultra-rare 1911 Canadian silver dollar recently sold at auction for nearly $1 million.
There are countless examples of home run investment returns in this often overlooked diversification area. Our experts will be sharing with you some of their very recent successes, but more importantly, they’ll share where they believe you should be buying now for the best values.
Here’s a look at our esteemed speakers...

Now, let me tell you about the celebrated venues we’ve chosen for
The Oxford Club’s Investing in Art & Rare Tangible Assets Seminar...
An After-Hours Private Tour of The Metropolitan
Museum of Art
We are beyond excited to be welcomed by President Daniel Weiss and have a VIP evening tour of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
It is hands down one of the most beautiful museums in the world, the largest art museum in the United States and one of the 10 largest museums around the globe.
We will be guided through one of Dan Weiss’ favorite exhibits... a special one being held at the Met. Not since 1973, when an exhibition of the French followers of Caravaggio was held at the French Academy in Rome and at the Louvre Museum in Paris, has there been an attempt to bring the achievement of one follower of Caravaggio... a little-known but extraordinary painter – before a large public. This exhibition will be a landmark event not only for scholars and students, but also for all art lovers, who will discover one of the giants of French painting – who is only lesser-known in the mainstream because his career was so short-lived (as he died at only 41) and his works so rare.
In just a moment, I will give you all the details on how you can secure one of the limited seats for this event...
But first, here are the highlights of your itinerary in New York this autumn...
Taking Your Experience a Step Further...
With each event we plan, we take extra care to ensure that your experience with us is the best it can possibly be.
Your tour will begin at the London Hotel in NYC, where Alexander Green and I, along with Austrian tour leader Fritz Satran (a favorite among our Members) and our sponsors Stanley Gibbons Ltd. and Asset Strategies International, will host two morning seminars followed by an exquisite lunch.
After lunch on October 24, we will go to Sotheby’s for a private tour and workshop. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at how the auction house works and insight on what’s trending now for the world’s wealthiest investors. Our discovery tour will culminate in a wonderful champagne toast with our Sotheby’s host.
We will continue our tour at the Met, where we will be welcomed by world art historian and Met President Daniel Weiss. After the after-hours private tour of one of Dan’s favorite new exhibits at the Met, we will finish the evening with a lovely and delicious reception at the Grazie restaurant a couple of blocks away.
Located just steps from Madison Avenue and one block from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park, Grazie is the perfect place for lunch, dinner or a late afternoon snack. Opened in 1993, Grazie continues to charm the neighborhood with delicious Italian food served in a beautiful townhouse setting.
The next day, after our morning seminar and lunch, you will have the option to meet in a private consultation with tangible asset experts or participate in an arranged tour of top galleries, including the Mallett Antique Showroom. Mallett is one of the oldest established antique dealers in the world, specializing in the finest pieces of furniture and works of art primarily from the 18th century.
The afternoon and evening are free for you to enjoy New York City as you wish. We are happy to recommend activities for you, such as the guided gallery tours or our favorite museum exhibits and restaurants.
I look forward to showing you the best ways to diversify and profit from outstanding buys in fine art and rare tangible assets... connecting you to the world’s leading industry experts... and opening new doors for you in the city that never sleeps.
